Author Andy Fisher presents a talk and slide show about his book Big Hunger, followed by a discussion and book signing.
The talk will center on how the connections between Big Food and anti-hunger groups have diminished our collective ability to end hunger while causing damage to the dignity and health of low income Americans.
It will cover such topics as the effectiveness of food banks, whether soda should be allowed to be purchased through the SNAP program, and how the very term "hunger" leads us toward superficial approaches.
The presentation discusses the rapidly changing anti-hunger field, identifying innovative community-based models.
